“LOS DETERMINANTES DEL ESPÍRITU EMPRESARIAL: INSTITUCIONES, EDUCACIÓN, PATENTES Y TECNOLOGÍA DESDE UNA PERSPECTIVA COMPARADA”

El objetivo del programa “Los determinantes del espíritu empresarial: instituciones, educación, patentes y tecnología desde una perspectiva comparada” será medir y analizar la relación histórica entre el factor empresarial (capacidades empresariales entendidas como factor de producción) y desarrollo económico, haciendo especial hincapié en la importancia del sistema educativo en la generación de esas capacidades, en la formación del espíritu empresarial, comparando el caso español con el de otros países. Existe bastante literatura sobre la relación entre educación y desarrollo económico, pero muy poca sobre la relación entre educación y espíritu empresarial. Nosotros creemos que este enfoque abre perspectivas de investigación que son casi totalmente nuevas y que prometen ser muy fructíferas y beneficiosas a un plazo relativamente breve. El hecho de que vayamos hacia una “sociedad del conocimiento” hace que nuestro objeto de estudio sea particularmente relevante.

“THE DETERMINANTS OF THE ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT: INSTITUTIONS, EDUCATION, PATENTS AND TECHNOLOGY FROM A COMPARATIVE PERSPECTIVE”

The main purpose of the project “The Determinants of the Entrepreneurial Spirit: Institutions, Education, Patents and Technology from a Comparative Perspective” is to measure and to analyze the historical relationship between the educational system and entrepreneurial capabilities in a sample of several countries with special attention to the Spanish case. There is a considerable literature on the relationship between education and economic development, but almost none on the connection between education and entrepreneurship. We feel that this perspective opens new research vistas which are bound to be fruitful and beneficial in a relatively short term. The advances of the “Knowledge Society” and the increasing technical sophistication required of modern entrepreneurs make our study especially relevant.
